Splatsin rescinds evacuation alert in Salmon River IR1

Splatsin has rescinded an evacuation alert for Salmon River IR 1 that was issued Aug. 1 because of the Bradley Creek wildfire.

Splatsin announced the change Aug. 9, calling it a significant and positive development for the community.

Officials said there are no longer any Splatsin evacuation orders or alerts in effect related to the wildfire.

“The Bradley Creek Wildfire is now classified as Held, meaning BC Wildfire Service does not expect the fire to grow beyond its current perimeter under current conditions,” said Lloyd Ley, Yucwmenlúcwu and Balcaen Strike Team liaison.

“While wildfire alerts have been lifted, this does not mean a full stand-down. The immediate threat has decreased, but operational vigilance remains necessary.”

Splatsin urged residents to remain prepared for sudden changes in the fire’s status or growth that could lead to an evacuation.

Current information about the Bradley Creek wildfire is available on the BC Wildfire Service website.
