Suspect identified following break-and-enter at Salmon Arm business

Salmon Arm RCMP have identified a suspect following a break and enter at a local business.

Police attended the scene and found several smashed windows at a business that had previously been broken into.

RCMP said the business owner attended and confirmed there was no video surveillance of the incident. The owner estimated that $75 in loose change was stolen, in addition to the cost of repairing the broken windows.

Salmon Arm RCMP initially requested the assistance of Police Dog Services to conduct a track, but officers were unable to locate a suspect.

Forensic Identification Services also attended that night and collected DNA evidence and a footwear impression.

Police said the footwear impression was compared with footwear worn by a 49-year-old man known to police and was confirmed to be a match.

The area was canvassed the following day for video surveillance. Police said they will forward charge recommendations to the B.C. Prosecution Service for charge assessment.
