Blackburn Park project now complete

The Blackburn Park Artificial Sports Field Project has been completed.

The Shuswap Youth Soccer Association made its announcement saying that with the lights now installed, community programs will have more access to the play on the field during the fall and winter months.

Salmon Arm City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with the association in January 2026.

It read that users of the field will benefit from lighting, especially during months when the city’s turf grass field is closed due to weather and shorter daylight hours.

“The Shuswap Youth Soccer Association will be responsible for all procurement, installation, payment and administrative tasks throughout the installation of the lighting. All work must comply with City of Salmon Arm standards, and final acceptance must be granted by the City,” the memorandum read.

The City contributed unused funding from the original field installation project and the Salmon Arm’s 55+ BC Games legacy fund.

The total municipal contribution of $153,400.
