Two people arrested after drugs found in vehicle

Two people were arrested after Salmon Arm RCMP said officers found illicit drugs, cash and a suspected drug-trafficking scoresheet during a traffic stop.

Police said officers spotted a black Infiniti SUV that had previously been seen at residences known to police as “problem residences.”

Officers stopped the vehicle to check the driver’s licence and sobriety.

Police said officers saw illicit tobacco inside the vehicle and arrested the female driver and male passenger under the federal Excise Act.

A search of the vehicle turned up two scales, about 90 grams of assorted illicit drugs, $2,175 in cash and a scoresheet, according to police.

Police said the man was also arrested for suspected possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of unstamped tobacco.

The man was released without charges being laid at that time.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and a report will be forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charges.
