Suspect arrested following alleged stabbing in Salmon Arm

A Salmon Arm man has been arrested after an alleged stabbing at a traffic light on the Trans-Canada Highway near Highway 97B.

On March 1, a man and two witnesses arrived at the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment and reported he had been stabbed during an altercation at a traffic light.

Police said the man had significant wounds and was taken to a local hospital.

“Officers identified a suspect vehicle, located it and arrested the driver,” said Cpl. Brett Urano of the Salmon Arm RCMP.

The next day, a 52-year-old Salmon Arm man was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of aggravated assault. He was held for a bail hearing and was released on conditions.

The investigation is ongoing, but police believe it was an isolated incident.

Police ask anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage from the area to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP.
