City of Salmon Arm and Rise up Indigenous Wellness unveil display at City Hall

The City of Salmon Arm and Rise Up Indigenous Wellness unveiled its new display at City Hall this week.

The display honours the artistry and cultural contributions of Delores Purdaby, an award-winning master basketry artist from the Neskonlith community of the Secwepemc Nation.

“With more than 40 years of experience, Delores has dedicated her life to traditional basket weaving, preserving cultural knowledge and sharing her skills with future generations,” the City said.

“Her remarkable artistry reflects a deep connection to the land, traditional harvesting practices and the knowledge passed down through generations of Secwepemc women.”

The display is featured at City Hall, celebrating Indigenous art, culture and storytelling within the community.
