Indigenous-owned Gen7 Fuel opening fourth North Okanagan location

North Okanagan’s newest 100 per cent Indigenous-owned fuel and convenience store will open its fourth location in Enderby next week.

Gen7 Fuel, a retail fuel station owned by the Joesph family, will hold its grand opening on Splatsin First Nation on March 17 at 11:30 a.m., marking continued growth for Indigenous entrepreneurship in the region.

In a statement, Gen7 said the grand opening is expected to draw attention from across B.C., with chiefs and council members from neighbouring communities across Canada expected to attend.

“This station is a testament to what is possible when vision meets action,” Gen7 president Mat McLeod said. “While we are proudly Indigenous owned, our doors are open to everyone. Gen7 is for all customers, from all communities. We believe everyone deserves to see their feel dollars go further and we are honours to serve the people of North Okanagan.”

A portion of the company’s profits will be directed back into the host Nation to support local youth programs, community initiatives and infrastructure.

They said their new Splatsin location is expected to be an important economic driver for Enderby, providing local job opportunities and attracting increased traffic into the community.

The event will feature a tradition welcome, remarks from the Splatsin Chief, visiting Chief and Council members and other dignitaries.
