Salmon Arm park becomes more historic through new signage

Lund Park and Wright Pond have new signage sharing the story of the space in what the City of Salmon Arm, B.C., described as a complete and meaningful way.

The city made the announcement online, saying the park in Canoe will now tell the story of the Wright family’s connection to the land.

“Through community interest, local research, and thoughtful collaboration, that story has now been formally reflected alongside the long-standing name of John Lund Park bringing both histories together in one place,” read the announcement.

The city added the update is more than a sign. It is the result of conversations, shared knowledge and a desire to honour the people and stories that have shaped the area over time.

“The new signage invites visitors to pause, read, and connect more deeply with the space around them,” the city said. “If you are in the area, take a moment to stop by and explore the updated signage and the stories it shares.”

Visitors will discover local history, recognition of connected families, a unified identity and the city’s approach to how it shares and reflects community stories.
