Work advances at Mara Community Hall site

The Splatsin Development Corp. said Yucmenlúcwu Civil Construction crews continue to make strong progress on the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail.

Work is now focused on completing the final details of the Mara Community Hall parking lot beside the Shuswap River.

The corporation said fence installation is progressing, adding both structure and visual appeal to the site while helping define the space.

In early April, crews completed a transition strip between the parking lot and the rail trail. This feature creates a clean, finished look and is designed to improve drainage, reduce weed and grass growth along the fence line and support the long-term durability of the area.

The corporation added the Mara Community Hall has been a gathering place for more than 100 years, making these improvements a “meaningful enhancement for both the community and trail users.”
