Salmon Arm’s roundabout making steady progress

The City of Salmon Arm said construction of the 30th Street NE and 11th Avenue NE roundabout is progressing smoothly.

In an online update, the city said underground infrastructure improvements are complete, road gravel has been placed and compacted and crews have poured the concrete island and apron.

Paving is scheduled for Aug. 19 to 22. Crews are also installing and compacting gravel for the sidewalks.

The intersection is now functioning as a roundabout. Motorists must yield to traffic already in the roundabout and stop for pedestrians.

Some exits at the intersection will be restricted during paving and local detours will be in effect.

The city reminded drivers that the intersection remains an active construction zone, with delineators and roundabout signs in place to guide traffic through the area.

After paving, crews are expected to install sidewalks and streetlights as the project enters its final phases.
