Spring burning set to start this weekend in Salmon Arm

Incidental open burning will be permitted in Salmon Arm starting this weekend, provided residents obtain a valid burn permit.

The City of Salmon Arm announced March 13 that until April 15, burning will be allowed for dry yard and garden waste, except leaves and grass.

The city said a $10 permit is required for properties 0.99 acres or larger. Burn piles must not exceed one cubic metre, must be at least five metres from structures, must be attended at all times and must be fully extinguished by 9 p.m.

The city added that burning may be restricted or suspended at any time due to fire danger ratings or provincial bans.
