Shuswap Community Foundations announces new grant programs

The Shuswap Community Foundation has announced three new grant programs for non-profit organizations in the Shuswap. Applications are now open.

Monica Sigurdson, executive director of the Shuswap Community Foundation, said the new grant programs will offer more ways for non-profit organizations to access financial support.

“For the first time, we are funding capacity building initiatives in direct response to the organizational challenges faced by some non-profits,” she said. “These grants will help organizations develop the skills, resources and systems needed to achieve their goals and be sustainable.”

The grants include Major Capital Grants, Capacity Building Grants and Sponsorship Grants.

There are two application periods for Community Grants. Cycle 1 runs from July 1, 2026, to Aug. 15, 2026. Cycle 2 runs from Dec. 1, 2026, to Jan. 15, 2027.

Officials said the other three grant programs will remain open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis.

Robyn Keating, Shuswap Community Foundation grants and finance manager, encouraged local organizations to get in touch if they have any questions about their eligibility or the application process.

“We want to ensure that all organizations in the Shuswap who could benefit from these funds are able to submit an application, so we encourage people to reach out to discuss their needs.”

The foundation said grant applications from all areas of the Shuswap are welcome, including Indigenous communities, the City of Salmon Arm, the District of Sicamous and Columbia Shuswap Regional District electoral areas C, D, E, F and G.

Officials added that projects should align with one or more of the foundation’s cause pillars, including animal welfare, arts, culture and heritage, community, education, environment, health and wellness, recreation, seniors, social equity and youth.

Non-profit organizations and societies can apply for grants through the Shuswap Community Foundation website.
