New dog signs installed around Salmon Arm parks

Taking your dog to the park? You may notice some new signage following the city’s recent efforts to provide more clarity on dog regulations.

The City of Salmon Arm said that the new signs are now up in community parks.

“These new signs make it easier for residents and visitors to identify where dogs are welcome on leash, where they can enjoy off-leash adventures and where dogs are not permitted,” the City said.

Furry friends are prohibited on sports fields and must be on leash when visiting community parks. Off-leash dogs are allowed in designated dog parks and in some undeveloped natural parks, such as Little Mountain, as long as they wear a collar with a valid licence tag, their owner carries a leash and they stay under voice and sight control.

“Whether you’re heading out for a walk, exploring a trail or enjoying a day at the park, take a moment to check the new signage when you arrive.”
